Appearance: White or offwhite crystal power.

Physical property: The product is soluble in water and the solution is alkalescent. Soluble in alcohol slightly, but insoluble in liquid chlorine. It can react with sulfur dioxide and strong acid, the reaction products are sodium hydrosulfite, relative salt in turn, and the latter releases sulfur dioxide.
