SD-1101for Polypropylene
Introduction
The flame retardantSD-1101is environment-friendly and halogen-free. Based on the ammonium polyphosphate (APP) with high molecular weight, it is specially developed for use in polypropylene (PP). With phosphorus and nitrogen as the main elements, it does not contain halogen and meets the requirement of the European Union (EU) RoHS directive (Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment).As intumescent flame retardant suitable for homo-polypropylene and co-polypropylene, SD-1101 can achieve good effect through forming carbon-rich foam layer and catalytic charring. Because of its compability with PP, the producthas little influence on the mechanical and thermal properties of PP,with good process stability and low corrosion to mold.

Processing Instructions
1)The right amount of antioxidants, stabilizer, lubricants, processing agent, etc, could be added according to the performance requirements of the final application.
2)An twin-screw extruder, especially co-rotating twin-srew extruder is recommended for compounding and pelletizing. The temperature profile should be adjusted at 180~210 oC. With the good thermal stability, the processing temperature could be higher if required.
3)The flame retardantSD-1101should be kept dry during processing. In case of being affected by damp, it is necessary to pre-dry under 80-100 oC for 2~6 hours.
4)The careful evaluation is needed before the environment-friendly non-halogen flame retardant SD-1101 will be mixed with other additives.
Storage and Transportation
SD-1101 could be carried as general chemicla.
SD-1101 should be stored at room temperature in a dry place.

3. Processing
SD-1101 was pre-dried in the vacuum oven at 60 oC for 4 hours.
Compounding and pelletizing in the Φ20 Twin-Screw Extruder,with the temperature profile: 170,175,180,,185,180,175 oC.
With granules pre-dried at 80 oC for two hours, injection molding with the temperature profile: 200,200,200,190,170 oC.
