Refractron Technologies Corporation
牋牋History:
牋牋Refractron Technologies Corporation, a privately held company, was founded in 1984 with the acquisition of the plant, equipment and technology at the present location. The business was originally based on the porous ceramic technology purchased from The Carborundum Co. and the active filter drier technology of Tetron Inc. In 2002 Refractron acquired Xylon Ceramic Materials of Alfred, NY, relocating manufacturing to the main plant in Newark for the full range of structural zirconia and alumina products.
牋牋People and Facilities:
牋牋Refractron has a highly qualified team comprised of ceramic, materials, process and mechanical engineers, as well as experienced support, administrative, manufacturing, sales and marketing people.
牋牋The company's 77,000 square foot offices, main manufacturing, research and development facilities are in Newark, New York, thirty miles east of Rochester. In addition, we maintain a research and development facility in Ceramic Corridor Innovation Center (CCIC) in Alfred, NY taking advantage of the proximity to the NY State College of Ceramics.
牋牋Products & Applications:
牋牋Refractron Technologies Corp. is a leader in advanced engineered ceramics. Our products include both controlled porosity and densely structured ceramics and are designed to meet requirements specified by our customers for durability, chemical corrosion resistance, toughness, permeability and pore size distribution.
牋牋The range of porous ceramic products is used in applications including filtration, aeration, diffusion and other applications where tightly controlled pore size, and porosity are critical. Porous products include membrane and monolithic filter tubes and plates, diffuser discs, domes and tubes, as well as adsorbent filter/drier cores for refrigerants.
牋牋The range of dense ceramic products using the proprietary Xylon zirconia and alumina materials includes custom blended ceramic alloy powders, extruded and isopressed structural ceramic components. These ceramic alloy components are used for biomedical orthopedic implants; chemical and wear resistant pump parts and thermal spray applications. Other specialty components using our advanced engineered ceramics include gas probes, electrostatic dissipative materials, finger print pads, reference electrodes and dispersion rolls.
