Baymag is one of the worlds leading manufacturers of high grade MgO based on one of the purest crystalline magnesite deposits ever discovered.
500 million years ago, one of the purest crystalline magnesite deposits on earth was formed in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, near Radium Hot Springs in British Columbia. The deposit was discovered in 1966. Diamond core drilling in the early 1970s proved reserves in excess of 50 million tonnes of high quality magnesite ore. Today Baymag controls 461 mining claim units. They cover an area of 26,500 acres (107 square kilometres).
Baymag抯 open pit mine operates year round. Mine planning, day-to-day ore production and quality assurance are controlled by a sophisticated computer model.
The ore is transported to Baymag抯 state of the art production facilities in Exshaw, Alberta where it is calcined into various grades of magnesium oxide (MgO).
