Usages:
(1) it is used as an anticancer drug.
(2) it is used to produce other chemicals. For example, it can react with 2-methyl-3-oxo-butyric acid ethyl ester to get 1-hydroxy-5,6-dimethyl-1H-pyrimidine-2,4-dione. This reaction needs reagent NaOEt and solvent ethanol at ambient temperature.
Application:
For the treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia, but also for the treatment of metastatic ovarian cancer, primary head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, intractable psoriasis. Recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is approved for the treatment of sickle cell disease and as cheap cure AIDS virus (HIV) effective drugs.
