Physical and chemical properties:
Technical product is white cystal solid, density 0.3, m.p.86-87 Centigrade, vapour pressure 5.07x10-5Pa (20 Centigrade). At atmospheric temperature the solubility in water is very low, easily soluble in xylene, acetone and most organic solvents.
Toxicity:
Acute oral LD50 to rats is 600mg/kg, acute dermal LD50 to rabbits is more than 0200 mg/kg. It is not irritant to eyes and skins of experimental animals and nontoxic to bees, birds and natural enemy.
Application:
Amitraz is highly effective insecticide, used for animal ectoparasites. It is a broad spectrum insecticide, widely used for cattle, sheep, goats and pigs. It has rapid action on the control of animal ectoparasites, such as , mites, ticks and keds etc., and the compound persists on hair and wool long enough to control all stages of the parasite. Meanwhile, in agriculture and horticulture, the outstanding miticidal activity of Amitraz has been shown to control pear psylla and mites in deciduous fruit, mites in citrus and a wide range of pest species in cotton. Amitraz is relatively safe to predatory insects and bees. It is effective for controlling the mites which have produced pesticide resistance to other acaricides.
