Product description: Carbomer 940 is a water-soluble polymer, which is used in many industries for emulsification, stabilization, suspension and thickening, as well as as a gelling agent in hand sanitizer gel and other products. Carbomer has many different grades and is widely used in the manufacture of cosmetics and bath products, including gel, cream and lotion, detergents and air fresheners. The gel effect is activated in two stages, first is the dispersion and hydration of Carbopol, and second is to "neutralize" the solution by adding chemicals that increase the pH value. Neutralizing agents include triethanolamine, sodium hydroxide, and potassium hydroxide. Carbomer wash free disinfection gel is mainly composed of carbomer 940, alcohol, water, medical glycerin, etc. During preparation, triethanolamine is used to adjust the pH of carbomer to form a transparent gel, or a fragrance agent can be added. When using Carbomer 940 to prepare washing free disinfection gel, many people will encounter a problem, that is, after adding alcohol and glycerin to the pH adjusted Carbomer transparent gel, a lot of white flocs will be produced. Alcohol and water are also miscible, affecting the dissolution of carbopol. Based on our experience, there are usually several solutions as follows: 1. Add water to make the Carbomer gel transparent If there is less floc after adding alcohol, try to add a small amount of water and stir. If the floc is significantly reduced, continue to add an appropriate amount of water and stir evenly until the Carbomer gel becomes transparent. 2. Reduce the alcohol concentration in Carbomer gel Carbomer 940 is prone to whitening when used in systems with an alcohol content greater than 50%, and can be reduced in alcohol dosage or added in small amounts multiple times; Alternatively, starting without adding all the triethanolamine, after adding ethanol and glycerol, adjust the pH by adding triethanolamine dropwise. Based on experience, it is usually appropriate to prepare an alcohol concentration of around 65%. If the concentration is 75%, it is more prone to whitening. You can also try reducing the amount of alcohol used and adding it in small amounts multiple times, perhaps the problem can be solved. 3. It is better to do a sample test before mass production. During the sample test, the problems occurred should be recorded in a timely manner and remedied according to the above methods, so that there will be no serious consequences during mass production. Remember that the alcohol concentration configured at about 65% is relatively high, which is also the reason why the gel free cleaning disinfectant commonly sold in the market has a high concentration of 65%.
