Total cholesterol (TC) in serum includes two parts: free cholesterol (FC) and cholesterol ester (CE). Cholesterol esters in serum can be hydrolyzed into free cholesterol and free fatty acids (FFA) by cholesterol esterase, and cholesterol generates △ 4-cholesterone and hydrogen peroxide under the oxidation of cholesterol oxidase.
