The characteristics of CHAPS
CHAPS (CAS75621-03-3), CAS number: 75621-03-3 | Molecular formula: C 32 H 58 N 2O 7 S, full chemical name 3- [(3-Cholamidopropyl) dimethylo] -1-propanesulfonate, is a zwitterionic surfactant widely used in protein preparation, dissolution, and separation. It is a white powder solid at room temperature, with good water solubility (50 mg/mL), but has hydrophobicity at the molecular level. When CHAPS is dissolved in water, its aqueous solution appears colorless to light yellow transparent.
The application of CHAPS
CHAPS is a non denaturing detergent used to dissolve membrane proteins and disrupt protein-protein interactions. The structure of this surfactant combines the useful properties of sulfobetaine type and bile salt detergent
2. Some studies have shown that compared to NP-40 and Triton X-100, CHAPS can mildly and effectively destroy the nuclear membrane, dissolve membrane proteins, and disrupt protein-protein interactions (PPI).
CHAPS can protect the natural state or conformation of proteins, thereby maintaining their activity and function. Therefore, CHAPS is widely used in biological science research fields such as cell lysis and protein purification. For proteomics: In the preparation of TMT samples for mammalian cell and tissue analysis, the use of CHAPS lysis buffer can avoid accidental protein degradation during protein digestion and improve protein extraction efficiency.
CHAPS has been successfully used to dissolve endometrial proteins and receptors, and has the ability to maintain protein activity. Proteins can also be iodized in the presence of CHAPS.
Precautions for using CHAPS
When preparing any solution using CHAPS, please try not to shake or stir vigorously. Its storage conditions are 2-8 ℃ refrigeration
2. Before adding CHAPS (0.5% w/v), the remaining DNA contamination was degraded by incubating with Benzonase nuclease at 37 ° C. Remove crude lysate from cell fragments by centrifugation (3000 g, 10 minutes).
With the increasing awareness of chemical safety in the global market, more and more users are searching for CHAPS without DMF (dimethylformamide) for their applications. As a leading CHAPS manufacturer, Desheng has been investing in its research and development resources to develop solutions to remove DMF from its CHAPS manufacturing process. So far, the results have been satisfactory. If you are looking for a CHAPS supplier, please contact Desheng professional customer service!
