Product description:
Luminol, chemically known as 3-aminophthalic anhydride, is a commonly used chemiluminescent reagent. It is a white to light yellow powder, easily soluble in alkaline solution, soluble in dilute acid, almost insoluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, usually used in chemiluminescence immunoassay, fluorescence determination and other fields.
Basic information of Luminol
Luminol has the chemical formula C8H7N3O2, molecular weight 177.16, melting point >300 °C, stable at room temperature, gradually decomposed under light.
Advantages of Luminol
High sensitivity: Luminol luminescence reaction is very sensitive and can detect substances down to nanomolar level, so it is widely used in many biological and chemical analyses.
Wide linear range: Luminol has a wide linear range and is suitable for quantitative analysis.
Rapid response: Luminol has a fast luminescence reaction speed and results can be obtained in a short period of time.
Good stability: Luminol is stable at room temperature, which makes it easy to store for a long time.
Non-radioactive: unlike radioactive markers, Luminol has no radioactive hazards and has no effect on the environment and human body.
Application scope of Luminol
Chemiluminescence immunoassay: Luminol is used as a marker in chemiluminescence immunoassay, which can detect various biomolecules, such as hormones, tumor markers, drugs and so on.
Fluorescence assay: Luminol can be used in fluorescence assay, especially in the analysis of trace metal ions with important applications.
Other biological molecules detection: In addition, Luminol can also be used to detect enzyme activity, ions and other biological molecules.
Limitations of Luminol
Sensitivity limitations: Although the sensitivity of Luminol is very high, there are still limitations for some low concentration samples.
Harsh reaction conditions: Luminol reaction needs to be carried out under specific pH and redox conditions, and the reaction conditions may need to be adjusted for some samples.
Specificity issues: Although Luminol can react with many biomolecules, its specificity may not be high enough to cause cross-reactivity.
Price problem: Luminol as a more expensive chemical reagent will increase the cost of the experiment.
As a commonly used chemiluminescent reagent, Luminol has the advantages of high sensitivity, fast reaction and good stability, and is widely used in chemiluminescent immunoassay and fluorimetry.
