  Property: Isopropyl acetate can be mixed and dissolved in alcohol, ketone, and ether, etc. It is called “Universal Solvent” and has excellent solvency to synthetic resins and natural resins. Purpose: (1) Coating solvent Isopropyl acetate has aroma, strong solvency and volatilization speed between ethyl acetate and butyl acetate, so it has special purpose in high grade coatings (e.g.: mobile phone paint). (2) Dehydrating agent to recover acetic acid Isopropyl acetate can form azeotrope with water. Comparing with the selectivity coefficient of dehydration of many solvents, isopropyl acetate has obvious advantage and is widely used in vinylon industry. (3) Pharmaceutical industry With appropriate solvency and volatilization speed, isopropyl acetate is used in the production of many drugs and pesticides. (4) Tobacco industry Mixing with many solvents, isopropyl acetate is also used in the production of tobacco. (5) High grade printing ink Isopropyl acetate is a good printing ink solvent as the ethyl acetate volatilizes too fast and n-butyl acetate will leave odor.
