Thermostable Alpha-Amylase CAS: 9000-90-2
Product Name: alpha-Amylase; Synonyms: A-AMYLASE;ANIMAL DIASTASE;AMYLASE, ALPHA;AMYLOPSIN;ALPHA-AMYLASE, HUMAN SALIVA;ALPHA-AMYLASE, HUMAN;ALPHA-AMYLASE, HUMAN PANCREAS;ALPHA-AMYLASE, PANCREAS; CAS: 9000-90-2; EINECS: 232-565-6; Product Categories: Biochemistry;Enzyme;Glycohydrolase;Hydrolase;3.2.x.x Glycosidases;3.x.x.x Hydrolases;Application Index;Carbohydrate hydrolysis&PTM analysis;Carbohydrate HydrolysisEnzyme Class Index; storage temp.: 2-8°C; HS Code: 35079090; Description: Alpha-Amylase is a protein enzyme EC 3.2.1.1 that hydrolyses alpha bonds of large, alpha-linked polysaccharides, such as starch and glycogen, yielding glucose and maltose. It is the major form of amylase found in humans and other mammals. It is also present in seeds containing starch as a food reserve, and is secreted by many fungi. Usage: Alpha-Amylase is to hydrolyze α bonds of α-linked polysaccharides, such as starch and glycogen. Product A1031 is from human saliva, is type IIA, and is supplied as a lyophilized powder. alpha-Amylase has been used in various plant studies, such as metabolism studies in Arabidopsis 1 . Alpha-Amylase from human saliva has been used to study the development of nutraceuticals, which may aid the treatment of diabetes and obesity. Alpha-Amylase is used in ethanol production to break starches in grains into fermentable sugars. The first step in the production of high-fructose corn syrup is the treatment of cornstarch with α-amylase, producing shorter chains of sugars oligosaccharides. An alpha-amylase called "Termamyl", sourced from Bacillus licheniformis, is also used in some detergents, especially dishwashing and starch-removing detergents. |
