Quantity: 5Metric Tons Price:800 USD Metric Tons Applications When hardened and formed, 8620 Cold Drawn Alloy Steel Round Bar may be used to produce hard wearing machine parts in a wide variety of industries. With its combination of elements along with the ease with which it may be processed, 8620 steel bar is a good choice for a variety of applications. Carburized 8620 alloy is strong and durable and as a result is preferred in certain manufacturing applications. It is used to make a wide range of gears, crankshafts, gear rings, pinions, piston pins, cams, gauges, tie bars, collets, bushings and bolting as well as hand tools and a multitude of machinery parts and components. Structural parts such as gears, pinions, spline shafts, pins and a variety of other important applications requiring a hard wear surface and a ductile core. When hot-rolled bars are used, they are drawn individually. When coils are used, overhead cranes use C-hooks to safely lift the coil onto the “Payoff-Decoiler.” Step2: Steel unwraps from the “Payoff De-Coiler” and is fed through the horizontal and vertical pre-straightener rollers to “break the memory” of the coil. Step3: Steel continues on through the shot blaster so that the surface of the bar can be cleaned of all scale and rust. Step4: Now the steel is push-pointed through a die. The drawing unit will then pull the steel through that same die, in a continuous motion. Step5: Continuous straightening is maintained by passing the steel through more rollers. Step6: Non-destructive testing is in place on all drive lines to ensure that surface defects from the raw materials are being detected and sorted out. Step7: More straightening processes are in place throughout the draw line. Step8: Shear barrels or shear knives will shear or cut the bar to the customer’s desired length. Step9: The final straightening process occurs at the 2-roll straightener when the bar passes through the large concave and convex rolls. Guide blades, angles and pressure all contribute to the final straightness of the bar. Back to Top Weldability Readily welded in the as rolled condition with the correct procedure, but welding in the case hardened or through hardened condition is not recommended. Back to Top Packaging Lengths of 48″ and under are bundled and strapped to skids, or put in corrugated shipping containers. Longer lengths are shipped in 1,000lb bundles, 5 bands per bundle.
