Detailed Description: |
RecombinantHuman Stem Cell Factor is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing165 amino acids and having a molecular weight of 18,409 Da. The sequence ofthe first five N-terminal amino acids was determined to beMet-Glu-Gly-Ile-Cys. Contains; This gene encodes the ligand of the tyrosine-kinase receptor encoded by the KIT locus. This ligand is a pleiotropic factor that acts in utero in germ cell and neural cell development, and hematopoiesis, all believed to reflect a role in cell migration. In adults, it functions pleiotropically, while mostly noted for its continued requirement in hematopoiesis. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]StemCell Factor(also known as SCF, kit-ligand, KL, or steel factor) is a cytokine that bindsto the c-Kit receptor (CD117). SCF can exist both as a transmembrane proteinand a soluble protein. This cytokine plays an important role in hematopoiesis(formation of blood cells), spermatogenesis, and melanogenesis. http://www.creative-diagnostics.com/Recombinant-Human-KIT-Ligand-a-a-165-Polypeptide-4250-427.htm
