Quantity: 100 Payment Method: T/T Equol is a compound existing in two mirror image forms known as the enantiomers (S)-Equol and (R)-Equol. (S)-Equol does not present directly in nature, it could be made in response to consuming soy isoflaovones. (S)-Equol is a metabolite of soy isoflavone daidzein, it is characterized as an isoflavan. (R)-Equol could not be made by intestinal microflora in human, it could be chemically synthesized. Not everyone can produce (S)-Equol after soy consumption. Only about 30% - 50% of human could transform daidzein into (S)-Equol, their production of (S)-Equol depend on certain types of intestinal bacteria. Only twenty-one strains of intestinal bacteria have the ability to transform daidzein into (S)-Equol or related intermediate. Several studies indicated that only 25% to 30% of Westerners produce (S)-Equol after eating soy foods containing isoflavones, which is significantly lower than the reported percentage in Asians, which is 50%-60%, and vegetarians are more capable of producing (S)-Equol. |
