Properties Colorless or light yellow irritant odor transparent liquid, density 1.64g / ml, melting point -105 oC, boiling point 78.8 oC, soluble in benzene, chloroform and carbon tetrachloride, water easily decomposed into sulfur dioxide and hydrogen chloride. Heated to 150 °C to begin to decompose.
Uses As a chlorinating agent, mainly used in medicine, pesticides, dyes and organic synthesis industry.
