Detailed Description:
Additive Performance Comparable to BYK 142
Product Name: Silicone Surfactant
Item No.: SilibaseCP-0420
Description:
SilibaseCP-0420 is one liquid rheological agent, used in lotion and water diluted resin systems, to improve anti settling and anti-sagging properties. It is also suitable for water-based color pastes. SilibaseCP-0420 produces a thixotropic effect that can be added later.
Chemical composition
Modified urea solution.
Typical physical and chemical data
Density (20 ℃): 1.12 g/ml
Active ingredient: 50%
Solvent: N-methylpyrrolidone
Flash point: 95 ℃
The data given on this data page are only typical values, not technical indicators of the product.
Storage and transportation
Sensitive to moisture, slight turbidity during storage does not affect the rheological effect.
Application Information
Coating industry
Features and Benefits
After mixing and adding to the water-based coating, the additive can form a three-dimensional network structure. This produces thixotropic flow properties to prevent sedimentation and improve sagging resistance.
Liquid additives, easy to use, without the need to control pH or temperature.
Recommended Applications
SilibaseCP-0420 is very suitable for anti-sedimentation of water-based pigments, fillers, and matting pastes. Excellent shear thinning performance is suitable for this. It is also suitable for controlling thixotropic flow behavior and can improve sagging and leveling resistance.
Recommended dosage
0.3-1.5% auxiliary agent (purchased form) is based on the total formula and used for anti sedimentation.
0.3-3% additive (purchased form) is based on the total formula and is used to prevent sagging.
The above recommended dosage can be used as the starting point for the experiment. The optimal dosage needs to be determined through a series of experiments.
Addition method and process
Adding during the grinding phase can achieve optimal dispersion and effect. No special control of temperature and pH is required. It can also be added during the paint mixing stage to adjust the viscosity. If the post addition dispersion is uneven, the compatibility can be improved by using a cosolvent.
Hot tip
The auxiliary agent contains chloride ions. It is recommended to use plastic or packaging barrels containing inner coating to store the finished paint to avoid corrosion;
If metal drums are used, corrosion testing is required. No negative effects on corrosion were found in the dry film.
