    Product Description:

Septocaine (articane hcl and epinephrine injection) injection is a sterile, aqueous solution that contains articaine HCl 4% (40 mg/mL) and epinephrine bitartrate in an epinephrine 1: 200, 000 or epinephrine 1: 100, 000 strength. Articaine HCl is an amino amide local anesthetic, chemically designated as 4-methyl-3-[2-(propylamino)-propionamido]-2-thiophenecarboxylic acid, methyl ester hydrochloride and is a racemic mixture. Articaine HCl has a molecular weight of 320.84.

Septocaine (articane hcl and epinephrine injection) contains articaine HCl (40 mg/mL), epinephrine (1: 200, 000 or 1: 100, 000) (as epinephrine bitartrate), sodium chloride (1.6 mg/mL), and sodium metabisulfite (0.5 mg/mL). The product is formulated with a 15% overage of epinephrine. The pH is adjusted with sodium hydroxide.

    Product Application:

Articaine is a local anaesthetic that has been approved overseas for several years. Like other amide anaesthetics, articaine blocks nerve conduction when it is infiltrated around a nerve. This action is prolonged by combining the drug with a vasoconstrictor The combination of articaine can be used for local or regional anaesthesia for dental procedures. Anaesthesia begins within six minutes and lasts for an hour. The half-life of articaine is approximately 1.8 hours. It is metabolised and then mainly excreted in the urine.

    Usage:

Local infiltration or nerve block anesthesia, oral submucosal injection. Take blood before injecting to check for infusion into the blood vessels, especially when the nerve block is anesthetized. The injection rate should not exceed 1ml / min.

Adults: The appropriate dose must be injected according to surgery. For general surgery, usually given the dose of 1/2 to 1 or compliance. The maximum dosage of aldicamide hydrochloride should not exceed 7mg / kg body weight.

Children over 4 years of age must use different doses depending on age, weight, and type of operation of the child. The maximum dosage of aldate hydrochloride is not more than 5mg / kg body weight. The average dose of children taking aldicaine hydrochloride can be calculated as follows: Child's weight (kg) x1.33 Elderly: Half of the adult dose is used.

    Fuction

Articaine blocks nerve conduction by reversibly binding to the α-subunit of the voltage-gated sodium channels within the inner cavity of the nerve, similar to other local anesthetics. Binding of articaine to the sodium channel reduces sodium influx so that the threshold potential will not be reached and impulse conduction stops. The blocking action of articaine on the sodium channel is state dependent: it has the highest affinity for the open state, an intermediate affinity for the inactivated state, and the lowest affinity for the resting state.

The degree of neuronal block is affected by the diameter of the nerve. Larger-diameter fibers (touch/pressure/ motor) require higher concentrations of local anesthetic compared with small myelinated fibers (pain afferents).Articaine is lipid soluble, highly protein-bound (94%), and has a dissociation constant (pKa) of 7.8. Articaine is an intermediate-potency, short-acting local anesthetic with a fast onset of action
