Supplied plain or punched, galvanised purlins are manufactured from high tensile steel for increased strength, reduced weight, and a long serviceable life
  
  Purlins are roll formed into two standard shapes C and Z. While each has individual characteristics, both perform effectively and in many instances the choice of one section over the other can come down to the personal preference of the designer.
  
  Generally, C sections are used for simple span constructions with the purlins butted at internal supports. In cases where deflection is a design limitation and the building is of a suitable size, single C Sections can be used over two or more bays.
