  Description of Rubber water swelling strip
  
  The bentonite strip is a green flexible hydrophilic strip of approx. 25 x 20 mm, made of natural sodium bentonite clay and synthetic rubber. The bentonite strip comes in lengths of approx.
  5 metres. Due to shrinkage of the drying concrete, small cracks and voids will appear in the construction and cold joints, through which water can penetrate. In contact with water the green bentonite strip will swell approximately 400 % of its original dry volume. The expansive clay mass will seal the cracks and small voids in the joint. The first expansion is delayed to prevent the strip from expanding to soon in contact with rainwater during the installation.
