Uses: Uused in the synthesis of methyl galactopyranoside derivatives such as methyl 2,6-di-O-benzyl-β-D-galactopyranoside; methyl 3,6-anhydro-β-D-galactopyranoside; methyl 3,4-di-O-isopropylidene-β-D-galactopyranoside; 1,5- anhydro galactitol; methyl 2,3,4-tri-O-methyl (or acetyl, benzyl)-β-D-galactopyranoside; 2,3,6-tri-O-acetyl or benzoyl -β-D-galactopyranoside; 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl or benzyl-β-D-galactopyranoside and methyl 4-deoxy-2,6-di-O-benzyl-α-L-threo-hex-4-enopyranoside, etc. Used in synthesis of chiral D- inositol; methyl β-D-galactopyranosiduronic acid; methyl β-D-galactohexodialdo-1,5-pyranoside and methyl 3-O-benzoyl-β-D-galactopyranoside, etc. Used for synthesis of complexes such as boronate, crown ethers compounds with methyl-β-D-galactopyranosideid and oligosaccharides-amino acid compounds. Used for synthesis of β-D-alactopyranooligosaccharid, thiocellobiose and sialyloligosaccharides. Used for synthesis of glyconanoparticles.
