Phosphoric acid, also known as orthophosphoric acid, is a mineral (inorganic) acid having the chemical formula H3PO4. Phosphoric acid is a colorless, odorless, relatively strong acid which is either a sparkling liquid or transparent solid, depending on its concentration and temperature. Phosphoric acid is soluble in water and alcohol and is corrosive to ferrous metals, alloys, porcelain, and granite ware. Phosphoric acid is manufactured by the treatment of phosphate rock.
