Detailed Description:
Polychloroprene, SN238:
Introduction
SN238 is a general purpose, mercaptan modified polychloroprene rubber produced using a Nairit recipe and process technology. SN238 has a medium crystallization rate and can be seen as an equivalent to the WHV-100 grade from Dupont.
Characteristics
Higher viscosity of the SN23x series
Excellent tear strength, the vulcanizates maintain very good properties even when highly filled or plasticized
Medium crystallization rate and good solubility
Good resistance to oil, chemicals, ozone, sunshine and abrasion
Good flame retardency and electrical properties
Appearance
White or grey chips. No solid impurities except talcum.
Comparable grades
Dupont: Neoprene WHV-100
Denka: Denka M-130L
Lanxess: Baypren 230
Application
The main application for SN238 is for highly filled compounds or for adjusting the viscosity of adhesive formulations. SN238 is often extruded as hose and particularly for harder wire and cable sheaths. SN238 is also used for formulating adhesives, particularly for adhesive plasters.
