Colorless to light yellow transparent liquid, melting point lower than -80 C, boiling point 289 C, the boiling temperature of decomposition, the relative Density0.9729 (25 / 4 C), refractive index 1.4226,: water solubility of 0.1% (25CC ), in which the water solubility of 7% (25 C), soluble in most organic solvents and hydrocarbons, insoluble or slightly soluble in glycerol, hexanediol and so on.

It is mainly used as extracting agent for rare earth metals such as uranium, thorium, vanadium; widely used as defoaming agent in dyes, coating, petroleum drilling, paper making industry; also used as plasticizer and chemical reagent.
