  4. Applications
  
  1). Incandescent lights are filled with argon, to preserve the filaments at high temperature from oxidation.
  
  2). Argon as protective gas, which is often mixed carbon dioxide gas together used in welding industry, such as MIG welding, GTA welding or GMA welding.
  
  3). It is used for thermal insulation in energy efficient windows.
  
  4). Compressed argon gas is allowed to expand, to cool the seeker heads of the AIM-9 Sidewinder missile, and other missiles that use cooled thermal seeker heads. The gas is stored at high pressure.
  
  5). Argon is sometimes used for extinguishing fires where damage to equipment is to be avoided.
  
  6). Argon is used in graphite electric furnaces to prevent the graphite from burning.
  
  
  
  5. Notice for Argon Gas
  
  Although argon is non-toxic, it is 38% denser than air and is therefore considered a dangerous asphyxiant in closed areas. It is also difficult to detect because it is colorless, odorless, and tasteless.
