  Usage: The Octane rating is one of the most known measures of gasoline quality. Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE) is by far the most important gasoline additive, but MTBE have been effectively eliminated from gasoline additive in the US because of environmental issues, regulatory changes, and potential legal liabilities. 2,2,4-Trimethylpentane, also known as isooctane, is a cost effective and higher value replacement of MTBE than alkylate or polymerate. Iso-octane offers excellent blending characteristics in gasoline, such aslow vapor pressure (RVP). The olefinic product provides an especially good octane blending contribution.
