Sodium bisulfite also assists in the dechlorination of drinking water as well as in the chlorine removal in waste waters. Another treatment method that utilizes sodium bisulfite's effectiveness is in the reduction of chromium. All three reactions allow for chemical removal to be controlled by the amount of sodium bisulfite that is reacted with the solution. 3.
