It is a highly purified protein containing 191 amino acids, and has a molecular weight of approximately 22.1kD. Its amino acid sequence is identical to that of human growth hormone of pituitary origin. l Indications 1. Long-term treatment of pediatric patients who have growth failure due to an inadequate secretion of endogenous growth hormone. 2. Long-term treatment of pediatric patients who have growth failure due to Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS).The diagnosis of PWS should beconfirmed by appropriate genetic testing. (Other causes of short statue in pidiatric patients should be excluded.) 3. Long-term treatment of growth failure in children born small for gestational age (SGA) who fail to manifest catch-up growth by age 2. 4. Long-term replacement therapy in adults with growth hormone deficiency (GHD) of either childhood- or adult-oonset etiology. GHD should be confirmed by an appropriate growth hormone stimulation test. |
