Jindal is a fore-runner in installing several latest technological and modern equipments to get high quality profiles. It has an in- house foundry with modern melting and holding furnances(they have automatic temperature controllers) including Hot Top Casting technology imported from USA. By this, company is able to produce highly refined and close grained and oxide free logs which results in superior finish on the extruded sections. Alloy is continuously checked using modern computerised Spectrovac for instantaneous analysis thereby, keeping composition within very close tolerance and achieving desired mechanical properties. The logs are homogenized before putting into the pre-heating furnance to feed the extrusion press to achieve superior quality, better finish, uniform surface necessary for anodizing and powder coating processes and as required for elegance. Besides, most modern tool room with latest know-how and equipments, Jindal has in-house facilities for development, research and innovation to follow the fast advancing scientific development. In short, all processes A to Z take place under one roof with utmost care, supervision and monitoring by 47 qualified/experienced engineers. The dies and toolings used are all manufactured with latest equipments such as computerised Jig Boring machines, computerised Wirecut machine, Spark Erosion machine and various other CNC equipments and precision measuring instruments plus CAD-CAM facilities. Finally, thermal treatment referred as "Ageing" is carried out using high velocity air oven with precise controlled temperature to get uniform properties all through. The company is continuously upgrading its facilities in tune with various standards for achieving highest possible quality. Finally, the extruded aluminium profiles are handled by PLC controlled conveyor system upto the packing point to prevent any damage to the product. On top of all these, each section bears the company's logo (trade mark) as well as lot number for identification and retraceability (to beware of imitations).
At Jindal Aluminium Limited, in order to ensure quality and relibility, vertical integration has been carried out for the manufacturing of logs having specific chemical composition. Raw material and alloying elements of 99.5% and above purity are procured from primary producers.
The Aluminium ingots are melted in melting furances and the alloying is carried out in holding furnaces. The liquid metal is tested instantaneously in computerised Spectrovac to ensure that alloy chemical composition complies with established standards. To ensure uniform and fine grane sizes, Titanium-Boron grain refiner is added. Subsequently, the liquid metal is filtered using ceramic foam filters to eliminate any form of impurities. The gas entrapment and other forms of contaminiation are effectively removed using Nitrogen Degassing System, which is an eco-friendly process.
HOMOGENISING AND EXTRUSION
The logs are then homogenised. The homogenising ensures uniform distribution of alloying elements, thereby resulting in uniform properties. The homogenising, being very expensive, though very necessary for high quality, is avoided by most of the extruders in India. Subsequently the Homogenised logs are preheated and fed into the container for extrusion. Application of heat and tremendous pressure forces the solid Aluminium through the opening of the extrusion die and at the same time ensure high degree of structural stability. The extruded Aluminium profiles are handled on PLC controlled Conveyor System to prevent any damage to the products. . The products are then stretched to enhance the straightness and stability and cut to required length.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
A full fledged Quality Assurance and Customer service department has been established with state-of-the-art equipments such as computerised Spectrovac for metal analysis, Carl Zeis Microcope for metallographic examination, Tensile testing machine, Electrical conductivity meter, Ultrasonic testing, Straightners Table and several other measuring equipments. Throughout the process, at every stage Jindal performs various laboratary tests and quality assurance procedure to maintain the high product quality.

Own Power through Wind Mills
With limited availability of conventional sources of energy, Karnataka inevitably faces an acute power shortage every year. JAL stepped in to ease the situation with an alternate non-conventional renewable energy source- wind energy. Wind power is environment friendly and a green technology. Jindal's 7 MW Wind Power Project is situated at Madakaripura, Chitradurga District, 200 Km from Banglore. The project has been commissioned. JAL is now self-sufficient in power through the wind power it generates and the excess is being channelized to others.
Employer-Employee Relationship
JAL employs about 900 persons directly, in addition to many indirectly and has been maintaining unblemished record of employer- employee relationship which is evident from the fact that since the inception of the company in 1968 not a single man hour has been lost due to labour unrest . This testifies to the management's positive approach towards its employees. The employees are in turn rewarded with handsome salaries, good accomodation, liberal perks and facilities including medical, free schooling and recreational facilities comparable with the best in the industry. Similarly, as an honest and major tax payer, company is contributing to the exchequer about Rs 500 Million annually. The Company has never suffered any penalty, stigma or action from the State and Central Goverments as well as any Court of Law. No doubt, cordial human relationship pays high dividend, though many industries do not give enough attention to this most important factor. About 75% of the employees are living in the modern houses (which are fully furnished ) provided by the company free of charge within the township (Jindal Nagar) and the remaining are living in the city and nearby villages in their own houses in joint families. The employees belonging to different regions of the country have been absorbed in the company without any discremination of cast, creed, sex and religion and one can see a mini Bharat in the organisation in total harmony.
Financial Strengths
On the financial strength too, the company's performance is not without laurels. It achieved the highest production in India on several occasions, last being 29500 tons in 1999-2000. The company has not availed loans from any financial insititions, banks and other quarters except occasionally some amount is drawn from bank towards working capital.Even bank limits remain unutilized. Company's turnover during 1999-2000 was Rs 3250 million and it is expected that a turnover of Rs. 5,000 million will be achieved during the year 2001-2002 and much more during the subsequent years putting no pressure on company's financial resources. The company has been earning profits since its inception and never suffered loss. The Company's credit rating having been assessed as A1+ (the highest) safety level, it is enjoying interst rate of 11.75% (perhaps the lowest) while being offered further lower at 11.50% by other banks.
