| Cervellati was founded in 1937 when its auto product resale activity was complemented by a small scale production of rubber shock absorbers for rifles, known as heel plates.
The 1950s
The company abandons resale activity to concentrate on moulded rubber articles. Several small compression presses and a rubber compound mixer are purchased.
The 1960s
The company is transferred to a part of the current premises and grows both qualitatively and in terms of potential. Larger presses and mixers, as well as the first injection machinery are purchased.
The company specializes in the production of heel plates for rifles and shotguns, as well as sling shots. In addition, through an agreement with a trading company it produces the first "superball", the coloured ball that bounces nearly as high as the thrust given. Tens of thousand are produced.
The 1970s
The company continues to grow and specializes primarily in moulded electrical insulation articles, coatings for transformers and plugs for airport and railway installations, and technical products in general.
The 1980s
Bayer grants the license for the production of Vulkollan Polyurethane. Cervellati also starts producing rubber compounds for third parties in addition to its own range. The company premises double in size.
The 1990s
A new facility is built for the manufacture of Vulkollan-Bayer and other Uniroyal Polyurethanes. The company receives ISO 9002 certification. The company's rubber compound activity grows and it starts to specialize in fluoride-treated rubbers. Construction of a new facility to manufacture rubber compounds is begun in 1999 and starts production in 2000.
The 2000s
Cervellati owns three production plants extending over an area of 15,000+ sq. m. Currently, the plants for moulding rubber articles and that for Polyurethane production are undergoing expansion.
A total of 20 % of the company turnover derives from foreign markets, in particular in the EU and other European countries not included in the EU. The company also has customers in Iran, Yemen, Mexico, Canada, Bulgaria, and Turkey.
Production of FKM rubber compounds has earned the company a good presence on the Italian market of fluoroelastomer compounds with high-profile customers across the country. These compounds are also exported to Germany and countries outside Europe.
In 2003-2004 the production of Polyurethane witnessed intense growth, and this resulted in an increase in its manufacturing activity as well as the introduction of many new products.
The production of moulded rubber products has in part benefited from the compound production plant, which has made it highly competitive, particularly in the area of FKM and Silicone products. The company has been issued ISO 9001:2000 certification.
