Doosan was selected by KEDO as main contractor for the LWR (Light Water Reactor) Project in North Korea, and is in charge of supplying the primary facility of a 1,000MW Korean Standard Nuclear Power Plant for the site.
Last year, Doosan solidified its position in the domestic & international power market by winning large orders for core nuclear power facilities at Shin Kori #1 & #2 Plants and signing a long-term supply contract with GE.
Doosan will continue to grow as a 'Total Solution Provider' in the power plant field, by diversifying its business capabilities around the central nexus of main facilities production. Such planned diversification includes the supplement of architectural engineering, the reinforcement of instruments & control and expansion of customer service areas.
Along with its expertise in the realm of power plant manufacturing, Doosan also has the world's best level of technology in respect to the generation of industrial facilities - the driving force of key national industries. Doosan has proven skill in the production of desalination plants, environmental systems, chemical & petrochemical plants and material handling equipment.
As the world's top manufacturer of desalination plants, Doosan currently boasts a 25% international market share in the field of MSF (Multi-Stage Flash Distillation). Doosan constructed the Al-Shoaiba Desalination Plant in Saudi Arabia, which can produce over 100 million imperial gallons of fresh water per day, and also worked on other large-scale desalination plants in Al-Taweelah of the United Arab Emirates and Az-Zour of Kuwait.
Last year alone, Doosan won US$800 million in orders from the United Arab Emirates for a contract to construct the Fujairah Power & Desalination Plant.
Doosan is also placing great emphasis on the development of environmental technologies that are better equipped to protect and nurture a clean environment. By developing electrostatic precipitators, desulfurization and de-Nox systems, Doosan is surging forward in its goal to realize the 'Green Power Plants' and pollution-free factories that have been the collective dream of humanity.
