Product description:

X-Gal (5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indoyl--D-galactopyranoside) is a chromogenic substrate used to identify recombinant plasmids. In the presence of X-Gal and IPTG, lac+ bacterial colonies appear blue, whereas recombinant colonies appear white.
