Elco is a custom producer and worldwide marketer of lubricant additives and high purity chemicals. From our production sites in Cleveland and Ashtabula, Ohio we reach to a wide variety of industries around the world.

    The lubricant additive business began over 75 years ago as an innovative developer and producer of gear oil products to solve the demanding hypoid gear lubrication challenge of the day. Today our product line includes sulfurized products, dithiophosphate chemicals, and other specialized products and lubricant packages to solve customer formulating needs. These lubricant additive solutions serve the metalworking, fluid, grease, hydraulic oil, slideway lubricant, gear oil, and other industrial lubricant markets.

    Our chemicals business, known as the Detrex Chemicals Division, produces high purity hydrochloric acid used in the fabrication of today's high-speed computer chips. The acid is also utilized for the production of pharmaceutical intermediates and a variety of industrial applications. The supply of organic chemicals includes pyrroles which are utilized in vitamins, prescription drugs and as stabilizers for solvents, among several other applications.
