AMRESCO, founded in 1976, was looking for an innovative idea some years later to promote the company's AMRESCO-Brand Products Division. A mascot was determined as the best way to establish a memorable visual icon to compliment the company logo. The decision was made to create a mascot that would reflect the fun side of the company which could be shared with customers and employees alike.
In 1987, the caricature of the "Alligator" was chosen based on the founder's love for Florida, the everglades, and nature. Additionally, the term "investigator", often used to describe researchers in the laboratory seemed to be a novel fit linked with an alligator. The word "investigator" in fact went on to become the name of AMRESCO's quarterly newsletter. "The Investigator", featuring all the latest product information is still being published today. Free subscriptions are available by contacting AMRESCO's Marketing Department by email: info@amresco-inc.com or by fax: 440-349-0235.
The first version of the "investigator" depicted a standing alligator complete with spectacles, lab coat, pocket writing utensils, pants and shoes. Appropriately named Al LiGator, this trademarked character has been developed over the years to include a wide variety of versions representing AMRESCO and all of its product lines. Today, this trademark mascot has evolved into an easily identifiable icon for AMRESCO's customers. Used as a motif throughout this website, many of these different versions can be seen while navigating through the pages.
