Chemical Products Corporation was founded in 1933. The company's primary purpose was processing locally mined barite ore into various barium compounds. Chemical Products Corporation's product line consisted principally of barium carbonate, barium chloride and soluble sulfides: sodium sulfide, sodium hydrosulfide and ammonium sulfide solution. In 1961, a major diversification took place with the addition of a glass furnace for sodium silicate production. Products from this operation are sodium silicate glass and solutions and sodium metasilicate, pentahydrate. These products are marketed primarily in the southeastern United States. |
