In 1966, when the country was moving towards industrialisation, the predecessor of Ban Labs Ltd., Bharatiya Aushadh Nirmanshala (promoted by Dr. D. K. Patel) entered into the Pharmaceutical Industry for Manufacturing & Marketing of Ayurvedic, Herbal Patent and Proprietary Medicines.
Ayurveda means 'Ayu - Life' + 'Veda - Science' encompasses total knowledge of Human Life which has been educated to us by our great 'Rishes'. Ayurveda is totally holistic in the approach with established principles in order to provide relationship between 'Mankind' and 'Environment'. The doctrine of Ayurveda treatment is based on three 'Dosha' Theory, 'Vaat - Pitta - Kapha'. This age old science which had lost some of its values was put into practice by Dr. D. K. Patel with an aim to promote and establish Ayurveda as a medical science.
The foundation of the company was laid down on January 1st, 1966 with a very small setup and finance resources but definitely with a view to establish Bhartiya Aushadh Nirman Shala as one of the reputed company to manufacture Ayurvedic and Herbal formulations. The company started manufacturing tablets and syrups with the staff of seven peoples and had made Gujarat as an area of operation for marketing.
Slowly and steadily we realised that there is a need to expand the Product Range and Marketing Structure. We started to concentrate by developing more products and increasing marketing infrastructure. After a decade, we were able to establish ourselves as one of the reputed manufacturers of Ayurvedic and Herbal Products. Although, we were fighting against all odds against market leaders but our products were appreciated by the medical profession and were on the prescription list.
The next decade i.e. 1976 to 1986, was a period where we realised we should introduce products in the specialised field of medical profession and introduce products segment wise. We thought to increase our product range from twelve to twenty.
During 1986-87 the company was incorporated as a Private Limited Company which took over the running business of BAN.
1986 to 1996, we visualised a vast change in relative areas of production and marketing. We started manufacturing products as per modern demands i.e. coated tablets, flavoured syrups, capsules in blister pack and new division of oils was added. There was a change of packaging design and bottles also. Making such changes internally, we had kept our focus for the market also and we tried to have an All India Marketing Network. This was felt due to the presence of our new Managing Director, Mr. M. D. Ukani, who had been promoted as M.D. in 1995.
1996 and onwards, realised a great change in system of working, we were now more professional in our approach, emphasis were given to R & D and Quality Control. Ban Labs Ltd. received many awards and laurels in the pharmaceutical field and were able to establish the company as one of the leading manufacturers and marketers of Ayurvedic and Herbal Products. Oil Division started to pay results in terms of volumes and profits. Our brands Sesa Oil and Rhue Oil became familiar in household. GMP certification and In-house Recognition was given for our R & D Facilities by Ministry of Science. Some of our prime products had started to export. At the same time there was a need to have Herbal Cosmetics and Herbal Generic Divisions in our product list. We started with some twelve products in our Cosmetic Division and eighteen products in our Generic Division.
Ban Labs Ltd. started to expand its market size in terms of volume and area. It is having all India network of marketing operations with a team of qualified and talented marketing staff. At the same time, the company started its activity for overseas business which has resulted in export to countries such as UAE, Canada, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and Mauritius.
We constantly strive to bring best of Health Care to the Medical Profession, we have taken utmost care of Ayurvedic Principles in order to serve excellent quality, which has resulted for winning us various Awards from the Industries.
Here it is worth to mention that our products Crux Cough Syrup, Sesa Oil, Viton'99, Rhue Oil, Singapore Air Freshners, Body Touch Menæ¯ Toiletries and our Generic Products have been acclaimed by all.
The company with its experience, knowhow and marketing setup wants to diversify and expand its infrastructure in its present area of operations as well as enter in the market with new divisions of Herbal Veterinary and Allopathic.
The company has developed many new products for its proposed expansion and wants to put strong base of marketing operations for all India network. Many of its products are in process for patent filing.
