Product description: Chemical namesBetacarotene, provitamin A CAS No.7235-40-7EINECS No.230-636-6 Vitamin a activity1 mg all-trans-beta-carotene=0.167mg retinal equivalent(RE)6 mg all-trans-beta-carotene=1 mg retinal equivalent(RE) Description Free-flowing dark red powder with a slight characteristic odour ,in which white particles of strrch may be visible.the powder consists of spherical particles, with a uniform particle size. CompositionThe powder particles consist of beta-carotene embedded in a matrix of gelatin and sucrose coated with starch . they contain tocopherol(E306),sodium ascorbate(E301)and ascorbyl palmitate(E304) as antioxidants. SolubilityDispersible in warm water(35-40℃),in which it forms a stable red dispersion. SpecificationAssay;min.1%Loss on drying:≤5%(4 hours at 105℃) MonographsThe included vitamin complies with the current USP and Ph.Eur.monographs. Particle-size distribution100%smaller than 425μm(10mesh USP)min. 90% smaller than 250μm(60mesh USP)max.12% smaller than 125μm(100mesh USP) Bulk density Approx.0.6g/ml Stabilization/stabilityThe product is stabilized with tocopherol(E306),sodium ascorbate(E301)and ascorbvl palmitate(E304). The stability of beta-carotene 10% is very good even in the presence of minerals. The product is exceptionally resistant to pressure and very little batacarotene is expressed during tabletting. So that it exhibits good stability in tablets. The product is table for at least 24 months when it is stored in the original containers at room temperature(about 25℃)Packaging 1,5,25kg fibreboard box with AL-PE laminated liner,heat-sealed. StorageThe product is sensitive to oxygen, light, heal and moisture. The product should therefore be stored in the tightly closed original containers in a dry and dark place,at room temperature(about 25℃) ApplicationsPharmaceutical preparationsIn recent years, beta-carotene dry powders have increasingly been replacing vitamin A dry powders in solid multivitamin preparations,as ,in contrast to vitamin A ,there are no statutory limits for the use of batacarotene as provitamin a. beta-carotene 10% is used as provitamin a and as an active ingredient in its own right. It can be recommended particularly for use in multivilamin/mineral tablets and beta-carotene tablets, and also, because of its excellent flow properties, for the manufacture of hard gelatin capsules.Food productsBecause of its composition. Beta-carotene 10% is highly suitable for the manufacture of food supplement preparations,e.g.plain tablets, effervescent tablets and sugarcoated tablets. NoteBeta-carotene 10% must be handled in accordance with the safety data sheet. |
