Colorless to pale yellow oily liquid with a faint almond aroma and mushroom aroma and earthy notes. instability. Melting point 5 °C. Boiling point 298 °C. Flash point 135°C. Soluble in most organic solvents, very soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water. It is used as a plasticizer for gas chromatography fixatives and nitrocellulose, and is also used in the preparation of fragrances.
