Description
Plant origin
Resveratrol mainly comes from the dry roots of Polygonum cuspidatum
Sieb . Et Zucc.,the fruit skins and seed of grape(Vitis vinifera ) , the
seeds of peanut(Arachis hypogaea) etc
Physical property
Resveratrol is tasteless white crystal (methanol); Soluble in water, ethanol,
acetone, etc.Melting point of 253-255 centigrade , sublimation point of
261 centigrade.
Stability
This product can produce fluorescence under UV irradiation, when pH > 10,
the stability ispoorer. When meet ferric chloride and potassium ferricyanide
solution, it reveals blue, whenencounter alkaline solutions such as ammonia
water,it appears red. Resveratrol is unstable to light. Huachengbio stability
test shows, high purity resveratrol ethanol solution in darkness can only be
stable for few days, so,they suggest that it would be better to prepare the
substance solutions and sample solution according to the need when do
resveratrol content analysis.
Isomer
Resveratrol in natural conditions exist with two forms of free state and
glycosidase catalysed .They respectively have two isomers, cis and trans.
Namely the cisregulatory resveratrol (cisRes), trans resveratrol (transRes)
resveratrol PD (cisPD), trans resveratrol PD (transPD).
The after two forms releaseresveratrol under the enzyme action on intestinal
system . Resveratrol in plants mainly exist with trans form .Rresearch shows
that the physiological activity of trans isomers is better than the cis isomers.
Pharmacological effects
Resveratrol is a natural antioxidant,.It can reduce blood viscosity, inhibit
platelet condensationand diastolic blood vessels, keep the blood flowing;
can prevent the occurrence of cancer and development; has prevention
and cure function on atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease, ischemic
heart disease, high blood lipid ;can inhibit tumor. It has estrogenic effect,
can be used in the treatment of breast cancer and other diseases.
